DIY knitting with wire

Because she loves pearls. ... And bracelets, too.

E's {late} birthday present:
bracelet: sterling silver, and fresh water pearls.

I made this wide cuff about three weeks ago, but I couldn't post it on the blog, since it's E. s-kid #2's present,  and I know she's peaking on the blog now and then.

so.....

long story short:
this happened right in the middle of my Pinterest break-down.
I've pinned this bracelet with the idea to make it, and then.... the crash.

Thankfully, I knew that the tutorial was safely stored in THE PLACE.
THE PLACE you have to land if you want to find tutorials and all kind of ideas.

Anyway: I found the tutorial  in a matter of seconds, and got to work.

For my version I used sterling silver wire in 28 gauge dead soft.
Knitting needles size 11 US or 8mm, and about 40 fresh water pearls (because I used smaller pearls, so I needed more than what the original tutorial suggested)
I casted on 9 stitches and worked all in garter stitch, knitting one pearl in random order every row.

I just followed the tutorial and the result is simply stunning, delicate, sophisticate, elegant.
Because its a knit, it's stretchy enough
that will go over the hand and fit around the wrist.

... I believe she loved it: since she send pictures to her friends right away. It's always a good sign!

I will wear it in public

Ready for another contest?

... I WILL WEAR IT IN PUBLIC

This is my entry:

I made a simple skirt with the silk I've got last year.
Super bold print, and very-easy pattern:
it's a wrap with an asymmetric hem.
that's it.

And with the leftover fabric, I made a scarf.
That can be worn as top... for a resort look ;)

I will wear it in public, that's for sure!

DIY quote on pillow #2 + sparkle

question to E. (s-kid #3):

what do you want for your graduation?

Answer: let me shop on your blog!
(proud s-mom moment!!!)

...And because she learned to knit from very truly yours:
she wanted the ultimate knitter pillow (previously seen HERE)

And she {still} loves purple, even better if it sparkles.

This is the exact same pillow I made a while ago with the quote
"I KNIT SO I WON'T KILL PEOPLE".

And this second time around was even easier because...

DIY: extra inches with lace

refashion a basic tee with lace at the hem line

to add these few missing inches

My drawers have plenty of tops from the 90's.
...tops too short?
(or mama too old?)
Today is the first post of the mini-series:
"ADD EXTRA INCHES"

Adding length with lace it's easy:
change the look of the most basic t-shirt
to something more sophisticated.
Just like these Valentino or Miu Miu ...

(doesn't need to be a limited option for tops:
you can use it for skirts, dresses, shorts, pants,
and yes: tops, again: on the sleeves!)

(very un-flattering pictures to follow: sorry!!!)

It's a 10 minutes project if you have a sewing machine,
about half hour if you have to do some hand stitching.

DIY Sergio Rossi Feather Sandals

Sergio Rossi is never a disappointment.

... But it comes not cheap at all.
and when I can, I'd rather DIY!

I was happy with my hot neon pink sandals
until... I saw on Pinterest a pair of
Sergio Rossi sandals with feathers on the straps.

There is no end on happiness, I guess?

DIY shoe dyeing

why dyeable shoes don't exist in italy?

...I have no idea, but I would be their first customer.

I had my shoes dyed before and loved the results.
Dyeable shoes often come in my mini-tiny-size 4, and I would have most of my shoes-problems taken care.

Well, fact is: I had to come up with something,
since I desperately need a pair of hot neon pink sandals.
(I know: very much a first-world-problem.)

for 3.5  € (about 5$) and really,
not more than 10 minutes of work....

Those Nina sandals were in the back of my closet for maybe 8 or 9 years... the color originally was a shimmery pastel peach/pink, but between scuffs and toes marks they really didn't look good anymore.
Besides, I need HOT HOT NEON PINK.

I found this acrylic color: DEKA LACK.
Let me tell you: It's DA THING.
